Governor appeals for relief food after floods

The Makueni County Governor has appealed to the national government and well-wishers to provide relief food to families affected by recent flooding that destroyed crops and displaced households in low-lying areas.

Preliminary assessments indicate that hundreds of acres of farmland were submerged, wiping out crops that were almost ready for harvest and worsening food insecurity in the affected areas.

"We are appealing for urgent relief food support as we work with the national government to assess the full extent of the damage," said the Governor during a tour of the affected areas.
