Farmers receive free coffee seedlings to boost production

Hundreds of farmers in Tharaka Nithi County have received free coffee seedlings under a revival programme aimed at boosting production of the cash crop, which has seen declining acreage over the past decade.

The programme, a partnership between the county government and national agricultural agencies, targets distribution of over 500,000 seedlings to farmers across coffee-growing wards.

"Coffee remains one of our most reliable cash crops. We want to see more young farmers embracing it again," said an agricultural extension officer overseeing the distribution.
