Meru must rescue itself from noise

Meru County has, in recent months, been engulfed in political noise that has overshadowed the substantive development conversations residents desperately need.

From social media wars between political camps to needless press conferences dedicated to personal attacks, the discourse coming out of Meru risks distracting both leaders and residents from pressing issues such as pending bills, unemployment and stalled projects.

It is time for Meru to rescue itself from this noise. Leaders across the political divide must resist the temptation to trade insults for headlines and instead focus on issues that matter: completing stalled projects, creating jobs and improving service delivery.

Residents, too, have a role to play by demanding accountability and substance from their leaders rather than being swept up in the theatrics of political rivalry.

Meru's history is one of resilience and hard work. It is time the county's politics reflected that same spirit.
