County sets up bursary kitty for needy students

Kirinyaga County has set up a bursary kitty targeting bright students from needy backgrounds, in a move aimed at cushioning families struggling to meet rising education costs.

The kitty will benefit students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions, with priority given to orphans, students with disabilities and those from single-parent households.

"No child should drop out of school due to lack of school fees. This kitty is our commitment to ensuring every deserving student gets a chance at education," said a county education official.
